Join us for the second session of our Cup of Data series where we expand on your Tableau CRM skills. This time we are brewing a different type of session and giving you the opportunity to be hands-on in a virtual workshop.

A Cup of Data vol 2 - Data Prep Smart Transformations Workshop

Based on the feedback from you (aka the DataTribe) the theme for this session is Data Prep and Smart Transformations.

That’s right, you will learn how to use the latest additions of the Machine Learning capabilities available with the Summer ’21 release of Data Prep. Your teacher will be the product manager in charge of the new smart transformations, Jim Pan, and you will be presented with the unique opportunity not only to learn how to apply this to a real use case but also ask him questions during the workshop.

– We will kick off June 18th, 10 AM CT – 11.30 AM CT

Before the event please complete the preparation instructions below to be 100% ready for the workshop.

Practical Smart Transforms for Sales and Service

Workshop Abstract & Speaker

Learn how to forecast sales using Time Series Forecasting and applying the magical Finance overrides in Data Prep Recipes, and then build white-space analysis end-to-end using Clustering.

Forecast case volume (and applying the same magical overrides to account for external and internal factors not in the data), detect sentiment in cases, and segment customers by case volume, sentiment trends, and CSAT scores to identify attrition risks for early action.

Jim is responsible for delivering Smart Transforms in the next gen Data Prep, where business users and data admins can use the intuitive, visual recipe builder to clean, transform, and load data with recipes. Smart Transforms are simple and powerful ML-transforms that can extract insights from your data, such as detecting sentiment in your unstructured text fields using NLP, segmenting your data using k-means clustering algorithm, or forecasting your data using Holt-Winters time series forecasting. Jim is passionate about customer success and is always on the look-out for new ways to deliver value!.

Preparation Instructions

Follow the 3 steps below before the workshop to be ready to follow along.

Please have the workbook handy if you get lost. It will also have recipe json files to upload to catch up (given you are using a developer org).

🔗 View the workbook (link to a Quip doc).

For the workshop we do recommend you having two screens so you can follow along as we are building the recipe.

During the workshop we will be taking questions in our Slack workspace – if you haven’t joined us already make sure to do so here.

Step 1: Get an Analytics Org

Create an analytics developer org, you may use an existing one, if you are confident that it doesn’t have conflicting configurations.

Note the data prep transformations we’ll be using is only available from the Salesforce Summer ’21 release. If yours is a Spring ’21 org fear not, the prep work doesn’t need to use a Summer ’21 org. Also all orgs will be updated by June 12, 2021.
